TV commercials will try to convince you that only carbonated and processed drinks quench your thirst long enough for summer. Of course, you probably already know better, but sometimes it’s good to have an alternative to running water.
The processed and sweetened water market is a multi-billion dollar industry. This is unfortunate for all the people who drink this garbage. The body does not need refined sugar and certainly does not need artificial sweeteners or food colors.
If you want to add a delicious taste and health benefits to water then try these water recipes with fruit! These recipes use herbs, fruits and vegetables rich in micronutrients for a thirst-quenching taste with additional infused water benefits!

I’m sure you have heard it before: one of the easiest tricks to feel full of energy and achieve your weight loss goals is water. Drink water and then more water. Science says that just one extra glass per meal can help you consume more than 1,000 fewer calories per week. This is because water is an excellent way to control hunger. It also means that you are likely to consume fewer calorie dense things like sugary drinks and juices.
But the old H2O could use a little push, right? Fortunately, infusing that glass of water with fruits, herbs and spices will make a big difference in the flavor department. Infused Water Recipes
Here are some of my favorite herb- and fruit-infused water recipes that will help you get all the infused water benefits. These are creative infused water recipes with fruit that go far beyond the obvious suggestion of adding a slice of lime or lemon.
1. Pineapple Basil
2. Peppermint Cucumber
Cut a cucumber finely. Peel if it is not organic! Add cucumber slices to a ½-gallon glass jar, add 8 pieces of fresh mint leaves and fill it with purified water. Stir gently and place in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
3. Watermelon Basil
Add about 2 cups of fresh finely chopped watermelon to a gallon-size glass jar. Add 15 basil leaves and filtered water to fill. Store it in the fridge and allow at least 4 hours to infuse.
4. Citrus Blueberry
Cut two organic oranges into thin slices (leave the peel for a better flavor). Add sliced oranges and 1 cup of blueberries in a one-gallon glass jar. Add purified water to fill the container and stir gently. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours and store it in the fridge.
5. Pineapple Mint
Peel and cut finely about 1/4 of pineapple. The thinner the pineapple, the more flavor it will infuse. Add to a ½ gallon glass jar with 10-12 leaves of fresh mint. Add filtered water to fill and stir gently. Keep in the fridge.
6. Cherry Lime
Reminiscent of cherry limeade (minus the sugar coma!) Add two cups of fresh cherries, cut in half, and a fresh lime, cut into thin slices, in a glass jar about the size of a gallon. Add water to fill. Mix gently and keep it in the fridge until it is ready to drink.
5. Strawberry Lemon
Like strawberry lemonade, but better! Add 15 fresh strawberries, wash and cut finely in a ½ gallon glass jar. Add a sliced lemon. Fill with water Stir gently and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight in the fridge and then enjoy ahh.
7. Grapefruit Raspberry
Another one of my favorites! Add a grapefruit, thinly sliced with crust, to a glass jar about the size of a gallon. Then add ½ cup of fresh raspberries. Add water and mix well. Store in the fridge for at least 4 hours before drinking.
9. Grape orange
Place 2 cups of organic grapes in half in a gallon-sized glass jar. Add an orange, finely cut. Place in the fridge overnight to get the best and fullest flavor.
10. Mango pineapple
Peel and finely cut a fresh mango. Add to a ½ gallon glass jar. Add 1 cup of finely chopped pineapple and filtered water. Allow to infuse in the fridge for 4 to6 hours before you take it out and drink.
How to Make Fruit Infused Water
It is hard to even call infused water a recipe because it is so simple. Even kids can make simple fruit infused water recipes on their own and figure out new flavors. However, here is a simple guide to make fruit infused water. Plus a few tips that make the process easier and improves the taste:
Use a Good Pitcher
Using a high quality glass jar really improves the taste of the infused water. This also makes it much easier to serve and enjoy. There are several excellent options for pitchers or jugs:
Glass jug with lid of infusion: this jar is my absolute favorite because it is all glass with a stainless steel lid that keeps the fruit in the jar to make it easier to pour it. It is easily stored in the fridge to obtain infused water on demand.
A half gallon glass jar. A cheaper option is a half gallon mason jar. I always have these throughout the house and use them to infuse water and dozens of other things.
Give it enough time
To get the best flavor, you need at least 4 hours or overnight in the fridge to let the fruit flavors infuse into the water. Some of the recipes in this article are for a half-gallon container, others for a one-gallon container.
You can double or halve any of them to do more or less. Also, these recipes are just suggestions and the fruit waters are based on your taste preferences, so experiment and enjoy.
Remember that you can always add more filtered water and re-infuse to get a second use of the fruits and herbs.
Use high quality fruits and herbs.
The fruit and herbs add flavor to the water. But if they are not organic, they could be adding some pesticides or unwanted chemicals. I always try to choose high quality fresh organic products to make infused waters so I don’t miss out on getting all the infused water benefits.
If you have to use conventional non-organic products, be sure to peel the skin before infusing. And / or wash with special fruit / vegetable cleaners like this after rinsing your fruits and vegetables.
If you like water infused with fruits and herbs like the one I have, consider starting an herb garden in your kitchen just for this purpose! Then, fresh herbs are always only a pinch away.
